On the 27th of January 2026, the Environmental Department of Canon visited the Turtle Conservation Centre (TCC) to provide equipment and supplies in support of the centre’s conservation work. The TCC is a collaborative facility between Indo-Myanmar Conservation, its Asian Turtle Program and Cuc Phuong National Park. This is Vietnam’s largest animal rescue and conservation breeding centre, focused on protecting the country’s endangered tortoise and freshwater turtle species, currently safeguarding 22 of the country’s 26 native species.
The donated items included cabinets for the veterinary station, equipment for animal enclosures, and waterproof protective clothing for animal keepers. These practical contributions will support the team in their daily activities at the centre and in the ongoing care and management of animals at the TCC.
During the visit, the Canon team toured the facility to learn more about the turtle species protected at the centre and the rescue, rehabilitation, and conservation efforts carried out by TCC staff. The visit also provided the team with an opportunity to gain first-hand experience in turtle husbandry.
Together with TCC staff, the Canon team participated in daily animal care activities. These included building habitat structures in terrestrial enclosures and providing water hyacinth for ponds in aquatic enclosures, helping to enrich the living environments for the animals under the centre’s care.
The Turtle Conservation Centre plays an important role in protecting some of the world’s most threatened turtle species through rescue, conservation breeding, research, and education. Support from partners such as Canon contributes meaningfully to these efforts and helps strengthen ongoing conservation work in Vietnam.
