The Asian Turtle Program (ATP) of Indo-Myanmar Conservation (IMC) is proud to announce the 21st edition of our flagship training programme. This year, we are collaborating with Cuc Phuong National Park and the Turtle Conservation Centre (TCC), alongside the strategic participation of the Southern Institute of Ecology (SIE) and the Leibniz Institute for Zoo and Wildlife Research (IZW).
COURSE OBJECTIVES
- Obtain new research skills for field work, including surveying, proper handling and data collection on tortoises and freshwater turtles.
- Gain in-depth knowledge of turtle biology, behaviour and ecology.
- Learn about the identification and conservation status of tortoises and freshwater turtles in Vietnam.
- Gain practical experience with camera-trapping methodologies.
- An introduction to the R programming language for biodiversity data analysis and scientific reporting.
- Have a chance to design and complete a short research project during 2026, following course completion.

Location: Cuc Phuong National Park, Nho Quan District, Ninh Binh Province, Vietnam.
WHO CAN APPLY?
We strongly encourage applications from Vietnamese students, young national biologists, rangers and conservationists. Many modules of the course are taught in Vietnamese language only.
COURSE FEES
ATP/IMC will cover course fees, including materials, food, accommodation, and reasonable transport costs for course participants.
