On the 1st of July 2015, Sally Jewell , U.S. Secretary of the Interior, visited Cuc Phuong National Park, Ninh Binh province, Vietnam to tour the Endangered Primate Research Centre, Pangolin Conservation Program and Turtle Conservation Centre.

During her official visit to Vietnam she also met with senior government officials, including Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, to discuss ways the United States and the South Asian country can work together to combat the world’s growing trade in illegal wildlife, which has been pushing many species ranging from elephants and rhinos to marine turtles, tigers and pangolins to the brink of extinction.

Ms Jewell said, “I decided to visit Cuc Phuong, as it is a forest of rich biodiversity and is safe shelter for many rare and endangered wildlife that need conserving.” She also gave positive comments on care and  conservation of pangolins, turtles and primates in Cuc Phuong National Park.  “So, when back home, I will share with my friends about the memories during this trip  as well as suggest proposals to build comprehensive cooperation program between the two countries on wildlife conservation,” said Sally Jewell.
