1.  Ca Mau Province, Vietnam. Reopening Lower U Minh National Park

The Lower U Minh National Park officially reopened on April 1 st to welcome domestic and foreign tourists after closing for three month for forest fire detection. Many species that occur in the Lower U Minh National Park are listed in the Red Book of the IUCN such as the yellow-headed temple turtle (Heosemys annandalii), and Malayan box turtle (Cuora amboinensis), pangolins etc.

2. Quang Tri Province, Vietnam. Release of 7 Striped-necked leaf turtles and 10 soft-shell turtles into the wild

On the 3rd of April, the Forest Protection Department released 17 species back to the wild in North Huong Hoa Nature Reserve (Quang Tri Province). Among those animals released were 7 Striped-necked leaf turtle (Cyclemys oldhamii) and 10 soft-shell turtles which were all seized from 2 restaurants.

3. Ha Noi city, Vietnam. TV channel ‘Arte' to film turtle in Sword Lake

A TV team from the television channel ‘Arte', a Franco-German TV network and a European cultural channel (Association Relative à la Télévision Européenne), will be in Vietnam this April to shoot a 45-minute documentary about the turtle in the Sword Lake (Rafetus swinhoei).

4. Ha Noi city, Vietnam. “The fishers” of Sword Lake

In spite of the ban, some people are still fishing in Hanoi's Sword Lake (Hoan Kiem Lake). These fishermen could potentially harm the Hoan Kiem turtle (Rafetus swinhoei) and create a negative image for tourists visiting the lake.
